Friends Annual Meeting Slated for October 23rd at 6:30 p.m.

Westcott House ExteriorThe Friends of the Library will hold their Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in the Gaier Room of the Main Library, 201 South Fountain Avenue.

In addition to a brief business meeting, the Friends will also be presenting the 2014 Lois Lenski Award to Debora Reed, a teacher at Lagonda Elementary School.  Each year nominees for the award are solicited from the community and voted on by the Friends of the Library Board.  The award is presented to an individual who has encouraged a love of reading and books in children.

Following the award presentation, Doug Bisher from the Westcott House Research Committee will present a program on this historical and architectural gem, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and located on High Street in Springfield.

Tuesdays, October 14th, 21st and 28th at 6PM

This series is a basic workshop for new writers or those who want to write and are interested in the trade craft of fiction writing.  Sessions will be interactive and run between 60 and 90 minutes.
