Borrowing Policies for eBooks

How long do I get to keep the library’s eBooks once I have checked them out?
You may choose between a 7-day, 14-day, or 21-day loan period.  You may download the ebook multiple times during this period.
How many eBooks can I check out at one time?
You may check out up to 10 titles at a time.
Can I renew the ebooks I have checked out?
EBook titles cannot be renewed, but you can check them out again if they are available when the checkout period ends.
How can I tell if an eBook is already checked out?
You’ll see the link Place a Hold next to the title.  Click on this link, and you’ll be put on the waiting list. 
How many eBooks can I place on the waiting list at the same time?
You can place up to 12 titles on hold at a time.
How will I be notified if an eBook I am waiting on is available?
You will receive an e-mail message letting you know that the eBook is available, along with instructions on how to download the eBook.  You will have 3 days from the date of the message to download the eBook before it is released to the next patron waiting.
How do I return my eBook to the library?
You do not have to return an eBook at all. When your loan period is over, the eBook file will no longer work. You then can delete the file. To return Kindle eBooks early, go to Manage Your Kindle on Select the Actions button for the book you wish to return and select Return This Book. Choose Delete from Library if the title has already expired. To return EPUB eBooks early, go to Bookshelf through the OverDrive app. Hold down on the book image until the return/delete menu appears. Select Return to return the item early. Select Delete to remove the item from your device. To return PDF or EPUB eBooks early, in Adobe Digital Editions on your computer or laptop, right click on the eBook cover and select Return Borrowed Item. To return OverDrive READ eBooks early, go to Bookshelf on the Ohio Digital Library website. Select the Return Title button next to eBook.
I replaced my library card and now I don't see my checkouts/holds on my eBook account?  What should I do?
To transfer your existing checkouts and holds to your new card, please send a message to, and include the following information: your new library card number, your previous library card number, and your email address.
